Our main goal is to celebrate animation cinema, by promoting the meeting between the artists and the audience that has appreciated and supported the festival's films for 18 years. All of the festival's shows, both competitive and non-competitive, are carefully programmed to present the audience with the widest variety of animation films, in all its categories. The non-competitive shows are perfect for those who want to watch films of the highest quality, without the need of comparing them.
But awards represent something that a festival cannot do without - so, let's have a look at them:
The Audience Awards are chosen through voting ballots marked by the audience during competitive shows. We are always proud to see the small groups of people that huddle together after a screening to carefully discuss the films before voting.
The Professional Awards are given by a jury chosen from a wide range of specialists in a number of areas connected to the animation field, who evaluate the quality of specific aspects of the competing films.
Films made by students can be selected to the competitive shows, where they run for the Best Student Film Award, or be part of the non-competitive shows, in the "Animation, of Course" category.
The Brazilian animation films featured in all competitive categories run for the "Best Brazilian Animation Award".
And to join in this exciting discussion, the Anima Mundi directors also hand out the "Directors' Award", chosen amongst all the films in the festival.
