ANIMA ESCOLA (Anima School) Is a project to introduce the use of animation in Brazilian schools.

The origins of this project are the Festival's Open Studios, which inspired the Anima Mundi professionals to create a special program to teach some basic animation techniques to teachers and students of public and private schools. Workshops and courses of various formats are integrated to stimulate, in the school environment, the production of short animated videos using drawings, pixilation and clay animation.

ANIMA ESCOLA activities are being continuously held since 2002 in public schools of Rio de Janeiro. Now, with the support of IBM Brazil, the activities will be expanded to more cities and a technological infra-structure will be installed with the help of a custom designed animation software in Linux.
